Venue Description: The Panamanian Institute of Art (Panarte) was founded in 1962 as a nonprofit institution dedicated to promoting the acquisition, conservation, research and dissemination of works of Latin American art with an emphasis on national, particularly contemporary art.

In 1983 the Museum of Contemporary Art in Panama, Panama MAC, to acquire the building that houses today, on the slopes of Cerro Ancon is inaugurated. Currently it is the only museum specializing in contemporary art that exists in our country. It has its own collection consists of about 600 works of art, one of the most important collections of works of Panamanian and Latin American artists.

The MAC Panama, is a private company with public service vocation, fulfilling its mission and vision through contributions from companies, institutions and friends, in a common effort for the good of the community and the Panamanian and Latin American art.

The Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC) is the only Museum of Contemporary Art that exists in Panama. It is a non-governmental organization (NGO) non-profit organization that has legal status.

Its mission is to be the spearhead of the visual arts in the acquisition, conservation, research and dissemination of the arts of Latin America, with emphasis on the national.
Lost our artistic heritage and promote through sensory and spiritual experience of contact with the art in the museum.

Sensitize people of all ages, with emphasis on children, through informal education in art.
