As part of the activities of “Africa in America” you are invited to the special function of the work of Panamanian writer and director Isabel Burgos, “Los Inocentes”. Winner of the Ricardo Miró 2018 Prize in the Theater category. It will be a special presentation to be held on Monday, May 27, at 8:00 pm at Teatro La Estación.
This work tells what happened in the Chase Bank of Balboa (Canal Zone) in the mid-1960s, when they hired the first black cashier, by direct orders from New York. The customers of the zone, the “zonians”, did not agree very much and made a protest outside the bank. In this historical moment, history is framed, which speaks of all the things that divide us as human groups, and also of those that unite us.
“The Innocents” has the excellent performances of renowned performers Arturo Wong Sagel, Augusto Posso, Valerie Troncoso and Luis Morgan Williams. Admission is free (until full capacity).
