Event Description:

World Music Panama 2019 is pleased to invite you to the presentation of “Abate Berihum Group”, who present a mix of Ethiopian-Jewish soul music, inspired by deep spiritual prayers, combining ancient traditions with the modern spirit of jazz, using rich harmonies and blues interpreted masterfully with the saxophone, rhythms that undoubtedly reach the heart.

Abate Berihun is an Ethiopian-Israeli jazz saxophonist, vocalist and composer. Prolific musical artist, he is one of the most outstanding Ethiopian musicians in Israel. Originally from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Berihun got a saxophone at an early age and enrolled in the Music School of the University of Addis Ababa. It was here that he was exposed for the first time to the Western jazz tradition and the albums of Charlie Parker and John Coltrane, two of his most important musical influences

The concert will be held on Thursday, September 26, at 8:00 p.m. at the Athenaeum of the City of Knowledge. Tickets are on sale in TicketPlus.
